The Opening Page

A few tiny tweaks to do but this is essentially the opening page of Episode One. There will be names etc added to the books and CDs. I am using the WILDWORDS font, which is what I used on HORIZON. There will be a different font for other speakers but for the internal dialogue and spoken words by our protagonist the will be in the tried and tested font by Comicraft .ย

There is a lot of symbolism in these opening pages before we get into the full-on stuff. I will give you some spoilers in another post when we are a bit further along, but for now, feel free to comment but please don’t share. This is for your eyes only ๐Ÿ˜‰

How to plan a comic

One of the things that I often find tricky to keep track of is when parts of the book need to get done and how to set deadlines and basically keep track of the whole process. The first deadline I have is the 24th of July for the London Film and Comic-Con. I want to make sure that I have at least issue one ready for the convention. Ok, so the con might not go ahead – what with the virus and everything – but either way, it’s always good to have a deadline to work to. The second deadline is the Thought Bubble convention in November. Being someone who works in tv production now I thought I would do what they always do for a production and put a Gantt chart together. I found a great app to do it that means that if one thing changes I can see how it effects everything else. If that then has an impact on the print deadline I can then see where I need to double the effort to have it still work. So… the theory is good, let’s see if it works ๐Ÿ˜‰ Colour on book one almost done so we are still on track.

Stay safe, Andrew x

PAGE 4

This is where we get introduced to our hero and his companion. The point that the real narrative begins.

Upgrade to EARTH or UNIVERSE patron to see Coloured pages and Fully lettered pages respectively.ย

Flight suit

Following a previous post about our heroโ€™s flight suit, here is the original reference. Yes, another Action Man costume from the dim and distant past as are various references for the book. And no, I donโ€™t know why one of the legs on that outfit is cut off. A long forgotten Action Man adventure in the garden no doubt.

Episode 2 Development

Ok, so this may be a bit previous but I am using it as a way of testing the functionality of Patreon, Facebook and my blog. Trying to get them to hook up properly. and as the top tier patrons, I thought you wouldn’t mind being the guinea pigs for that ๐Ÿ™‚

As I have mentioned before I am using StoryboardPro to develop the books. With the use of StoryboardPro I can really quickly get a sense of how the basic narrative is going to flow. I can draw thumbnail pics and key shots that I can then move around and plan where they will be. Once this is done I can fine tune them a bit and add notes to get the flow of the whole episode nailed. Needless they are really rough. But as long as I know what is going on it will work. You can see some of the thumbnails here. Hopefully, it is so rough that it doesn’t give too much away ๐Ÿ˜‰
